A dear friend of mine passed away and his family asked me if I would be willing to do the grave marker. I used AutoCAD and Illustrator to design the grave marker. I started with hand sketches. Many iterations later I had four designs for the family to choose from. The nine pointed star is symbolic of the Baha’i Faith which was Dale’s religion. The shapes inside the star represent a sailing ship, a musical note, and a flower depending on how you look at it. The shapes are not intended to be obvious and at first glance might be missed. Dale liked art that was similar in that at first glance you would not see what was hidden there. The representation of his religion and spiritual nature to look deep into things to find the hidden secrets is what I was trying to represent by the images on the grave marker.
